Five Hundred Years of Islamic Calligraphy – Manama National Museum – Bahrain

Boris Micka Associates

lighting design and execution project

The National Museum of Bahrain hosted an exhibition consisting of masterpieces from the Arts of the Book and Calligraphy Collection and the Painting Collection of the Sakıp Sabancı Museum of Istanbul.

The exhibition included valuable artefacts depicting the art of calligraphy and the art of book making between the fifteenth and twentieth century. Manuscripts, samples of Islam calligraphy and binding, documents of diplomacy and imperial orders and instruments used by calligraphers.

An exquisite design with elegant lighting focuses on the magnificent objects presented inside showcases that are almost disguised. A beautiful audiovisual on the art of book making complements the entire display.
